In August 2019, a team of Kelly siblings and enthusiastic Territorian friends successfully tackled the Katherine Ultra Challenge in memory of the late and great John Skipper Kelly. The challenge was a one day 100km adventure race involving: a 3.2km Swim (no crocs!); a 21.5km run; a 25km mountain bike ride; an 11.5km Kayak; and a 39km road ride!
In doing the Katherine Ultra, we raised over $13,000 to support students to undertake internships with indigenous organisations through the Aurora Internship program. By supporting young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to undertake training opportunities, programs and internships, we encourage the development of a next generation of leaders in our community. A cause we are all passionate about.
Thank you to everyone who supported us! Through challenges like this we draw on the resilience that dad gave us, express his passion for the outdoors, and pursue his vision for social justice. We know Dad was with us in spirit on this journey.
